Greetings Brothers and all who are looking to the East! Welcome to the Home page for Jackson WY Lodge #48 A.F. & A.M., the friendly Lodge for weary travelers.
Jackson Lodge Dispensation was issued on May 29, 1929 and our Lodge Charter was granted on August 28, 1930.
Our lodge has served as a refuge for both local & traveling Masonic brothers and their families since the doors opened. We are located at 281 King Street in a log cabin at the corner of King & Hanson streets. Jackson Masonic Lodge #48 is near the base of the famous Snow King Ski Resort.
Jackson Wyoming is in Teton County & serves as a gateway to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. We are also the home of three major ski areas, the National Elk Refuge, and Bridger Teton National Forest. As you can imagine, the outdoor activities are plentiful in our little slice of heaven.
Jackson Wyoming is at 6,500 feet above sea level. Our population is estimated 8,500. The town of Jackson is in the northwest corner of the State of Wyoming. Jackson is very close to Idaho's border.
Jackson Hole is a common nickname for this part of Wyoming. Jackson Hole actually refers to the entire valley that is bordered by Yellowstone Park, the Grand Tetons, and the Wyoming Range.
The town of Jackson is on the southern end of this valley range. Because our town is surrounded by all the unique scenic beauty and unique wildlife populations, we see a good amount of tourists.
Jackson Hole was originally populated by Native American tribes. Historical data proves that Shoshoni, Crow, and Blackfeet were in this area before the Lewis & Clark expedition set foot here.
John Colter entered Jackson Hole during the winter of 1807/1808 during the return journey of the Lewis & Clark expedition. After that, the area became a prime area for the trappers and many of the famous mountain men that traveled through here in early 1800.
Many of the towns in this area are named after these mountain men. A few of these well known names are Jackson, Bridger, and Sublette.
Our culture is deeply rooted in our western heritage and that is very evident in our art galleries here in Jackson Town Square.
