2008 Storm Relief Efforts

Some members of Crescent Masonic Lodge #403, located in North Little Rock, AR, after seeing the destruction on Feb. 5th in Clinton
knew what they had to do. And that was to fulfill a part of their obligation as Masons by providing help to their brothers, local area communities, and our state. The emails and phone calls started on Wednesday 6 February. Here is the rest of the story: More than twenty masons, their wives, children and friends from Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood and other surrounding cities departed at 6 AM Saturday February 9th, for Clinton Arkansas. Several Masonic Lodges were represented incuding Crescent, Lonoke, Rose City, Patterson, Adoniram, and others. The Masonic Brothers also represented several other Masonic organizations such as Scimitar Shrine, Scottish Rite members of Albert Pike Memorial Scottish Rite Temple, Bendemeer Grotto, Union Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, Occidental Council #1, and Hugh de Payens Commandery #1 of Knight Templar's. The cooking area was set up in front of the Clinton AR, Wal-Mart
store in town. While the grills and burners were being lit, several truck loads of clothing; for men, women, teenagers, small children and babies, were being delivered. This also included books to read, games that the entire family could play, paper goods, toiletries, and the list goes on...
By 8:30 the meat started coming off the grills, the drinks were ice cold, and the 100 cup coffee pot was ready to serve. Over 1500 lbs of meat, 45 gallons of beef stew, 30 gallons of noodle soup, all cooked & served.
Storm victims, Relief workers, Law Enforcement, Red Cross volunteers, & military personnel came by to eat. Each had stories of faith and hope.
As the day progressed and supplies started running low, additional supplies began to be dropped off. More soda, drinking water, bread, buns & cash were donated which allowed the purchase of more side dishes. Later in the day, boxes of food, snacks, and water were packed up and delivered to the support people working in the worst damaged areas. What a great day to be a Mason and being able to demonstrate what Masonry is all about. For information on becoming a Mason,
