The Charter for Adoniram Masonic Lodge #288 was granted on January 7, 1873 at Hicks Sugar Farm near what is known as "Old Belfast" community in Northern Grant County, in the State of Arkansas. Records show that Dr. J. W. Hall served as WM with W. H. Graves as the SW and Warren Holeman as JW Somewhere around 1902 the Masonic Lodge moved to Sardis and met in the second story of the Sardis School. Meetings were held there until the building was destroyed by fire in the spring of 1917. The lodge then met at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. A second story was added to the building and the new charter for Adoniram Masonic Lodge #288 was issued in spring of 1918 by the Masonic Grand Lodge of Arkansas. In November 1953, the lodge moved to Mabelvale where several buildings were used for meetings. The Church of Christ building was the primary meeting place. In 1970, the lodge started on its current building with the first official meeting held on June 3, 1971. Adoniram Masonic Lodge #288 has been a mainstay of this community since our Charter was granted. We are active in local, state and national events. All Master Masons are cordially invited to attend Stated Communications on the 1st Thursday at 7 PM Membership is available by application to men who meet all the requirements as set forth by the Masonic Grand Lodge of Arkansas.
